What's your vision?

At Fusion our vision is this: ‘every student should have an opportunity to find hope in Jesus and home in the local church.’ 

We believe that following Jesus is the most incredible thing, and we believe that Jesus personally invites us, his church, to participate in his mission to reach lost students - What an honour it is to partner with him in that! 

But sometimes it can feel hard. You might ask questions like, where do I even start? What’s my vision? What’s my motivation?

In Matthew 9, Jesus had accumulated quite a large crowd and as he looks at them Matthew says that, “He had compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd”. 

(I think if Jesus had a vision statement it would be something along those lines). 

And that’s the vision statement I want.

That’s the motivation I want!

I want to look at my friends and have deep compassion for them. Compassion that comes because they do not know the Good Shepherd. Compassion that drives me to earnestly pray for them to accept Jesus. Compassion that grieves over the fact that they are lost. Compassion that does not stop until they are found. 

This is the vision I want for my students, for my mates, for my family. 

How does one get this compassion? I hear you ask. 

Jesus goes on to say, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.’ 

What are we to do? 

Ask. 

Ask the Lord of the harvest to send you out, to give you compassion for those who are lost. 

We do not presume to be labourers, no, but we are invited to pray and ask that he would equip us and send us out as labourers. 

So, when it comes to mission, where do we start? Begin in prayer. What is the Holy Spirit giving you vision for? You may not know the best strategy or way to bring your mates to Jesus, but the Holy Spirit definitely does! He is in the business of revealing Jesus to the lost. So, ask him for compassion like Jesus, and he will send you into the harvest.
