In the last week of January, 27 gatherings took place across the country. In each one, people of all ages and from different churches met to pray for a student revival in this nation.Â
That’s because we believe that God is moving powerfully in this generation of young people. We have heard countless stories of students “suddenly deciding” that they need to try church. It is becoming normal to hear that young people who aren’t Christian, are reading the Bible (last year Bible sales in the UK skyrocketed). Even Christian music is being streamed globally at a 60% increase compared to 5 years ago.
Something is happening among young people.
They are spiritually open.
Zechariah 10:1 tells us to ask for rain in the season of rain. We recognise that this is a season of awakening so we gathered to pray for an awakening.Â
The evenings all consisted of similar elements. Every night began with worship which led into a time of repentance and lament. Repentance because there has been so much division in the church historically. We took time to recognise where we have not spoken well of other christians and sought reconciliation. Then we lamented over the fact that we have not seen everything we have wanted to see. It is true that the stories are amazing, but we know there are so many more students who need to know Jesus and need to be invited to church or to read a Bible.
We prayed for greater unity in each city, that churches would be able to work together well to see more students reached. We prayed for mission and celebrated testimonies of students who had come to faith.Â
We’re also so thankful for all the churches that got involved in these events and for all the organisations (UCCF, 24-7 Prayer, Agape, Navigators, YWAM and Friends International).
